ATHA LUELLA JOHNSON MONTGOMERY
Atha Luella Johnson Montgomery was born 29 June, 1908. We your family----one
daughter, 4 sons, 25 grandchildren, 64 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great
grandchild, also numerous in-laws pay honor to you and are grateful for the
heritage that you have given us. There is an Old Indian Saying:
"When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced.
Live your life in such a manner that when you die
the world cries and you rejoice."
To all of us you surely make this Indian saying a truth. Each of us wanted to
tell something special about one of your outstanding characteristics, talents,
or experiences but that would not be possible in our 2 minutes; yet each of
our lives have been enriched or improved by your wisdom and loyalty. Loyalty
and wisdom such that only a mother, sister, daughter, grandmother or friend
We love you and we salute you for your many talents and
accomplishments----cooking, sewing, knitting, music. These and many other
talents you have shared with people near and far. Atha, you were always an
outstanding student, a willing and gifted teacher; you still seek to study and
learn new things each day, reading the newspaper daily--so aware of current
world events. We think it is impressive that you still conduct the singing in
Sacrament meeting, instruct classes and have a part-time job. Sometimes our
children say,"I want to be like Grandma Atha when I grow up."
We honor and pay tribute to your courage. A courage built on the foundation
of faith and testimony. Nothing has caused you to question. You've always
been able to muster strength in times of adversity. Your faith and personal
testimony will perhaps be the things we'll remember most along with your many
years of service to the Church. Thank you for your love and inspiration. No
matter where each of us is we know that each night before you get into bed,
you pray for each of us individually.
